Oat Bar Cookies

 

Chewy oatmeal treats with a buttery rich flavor. It’s hard to eat just one. Good thing they are easy to make.

 

Preparation time: 10 minutes
Baking time: 15 to 20 minutes
Makes 16, 2” bars

 

Ingredients:

2 cups of quick cooking oats
½ cup non-hydrogenated margarine
1 cup of brown sugar
1 tbs of maple syrup
1 tsp of baking powder
¼ tsp of salt

 

Preparation:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. In a bowl mix together the oats, baking powder, salt and set aside
3. Add the margarine and the sugar to a saucepan. Heat and stir until the margarine and sugar melted together.
4. Pour over the oats add the maple syrup and mix well.
5. Add to a greased 9” rectangle baking pan and press down evenly
6. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until lightly browned on top.
7. Cool for a few minutes and cut into bars. Remove bars from pan while slightly warm as the bars will stick to the pan when they cool completely.
